Can you provide more examples of science fair projects?

You can come up with tons of examples of science fair projects on your own. Let's see how one student created 3 great science fair questions.

One day Elizabeth came to me and said, "I'm having trouble finding a science fair topic."

I asked, "What have been your favorite science projects or experiments?"

"I really liked when we cut up the planaria."

I knew that kids could create lot of science fair questions about Planaria, so I asked, "What questions do you have about Planaria?"

"What happens if you cut the planaria vertically?"

"That's a good science fair question. Any more?"

"What happens if you cut planaria part-way?"

"That's also a good question...."

(And, she could follow up with, "Can you make a four-headed planaria?")

"...Any more?"

"How many pieces you can cut Planaria into?"

In just three minutes, Elizabeth thought of three great science fair project ideas. The last one was her favorite...

...So Elizabeth's parents ordered:

Elizabeth put some spring water and 10 planaria in each of five dishes. Then using a scalpel (under adult supervision), she cut the planaria as follows:

  • 10 planaria as controls
  • 10 planaria cut in half
  • 10 planaria cut into thirds
  • 10 planaria cut into quarters
  • 10 planaria cut into fifths

A week later, she saw the surprising results.

But, I won't tell.

Find out for yourself.
